The axle is back!

It has been rebuilt by the brilliant JB Engineering, alias Billy and Jack Bellinger. I arrived at their workshop today, and all I could see was a new axle by the door! Turned out it was mine, not only scrubbed clean, but painted, and looking superb. Billy and Jack talked me through what they had done, why they had done it, amd why the axle had failed in the first place..
I am convinced I had taken it to the very best place for its rebuild.
They gave me lots of advice and hints and tips for refitting it, so hopefully, Mog will again be mobile very soon! Pictured are all the bits in the back of the tintop, after my 300 mile round trip!

A couple of days in Beeston

With Em and co…nice weather for just wandering around…and no jobs to do there!!!
Elvaston Castle is a superb place to walk around, as is the Highcliffe park, in Notty.
And now; a study of trees, water, ducks…

Chesterfield Car Fest

I should have been there with my Mog today, but the back axle issue dictated otherwise. I caught a bus into Ches, had a good look around, saw only 1 Mog, 1 Landie, one pal, and had just one ice cream…Then caught a bus to Sheffield, a luxury X17, and spent the rest of the day at the bowls club, where SatNag was in a comp. Pictured here are the Mog, the Landie, a Capri that looks like my sort of car, a park bench, an ice cream, the view from the X17 luxury express bus from Chesterfield to Sheffield, and a drill I found on the pavement in Sheffield.

New! from the inventor of the Internationally-Acclaimed Award-Winning Unstone Grip…

Welcome to the Unstone Easy Riser.
If you want to lift your beloved car by just a few inches, perhaps to aid hosing underneath…try using a pair of Unstone Easy Risers
.
Manufactured in Unstone from recycled wood…these take up little storage space in your garage, and will not slip away like steel ones often do…
Being solid, you won’t squash ’em!

a bit more safety

and better for the car…I have put another pair of axle stands under the car, ahead of where the axle should be…this means there is no ‘bend’ in the chassis, as happens when there is just one pair of stands at the back…with just the pair at the back, the doors rub a tad when you open and close them: now, with the extra pair taking much of the weight, the doors are fine.

Mog on holiday

It used to happen around this time of year…the dry stone wall affair, Beecher’s at Aintree, a couple of sprints/hillclimbs, but this was totally uncalled for! Took the axle and all the bits to Billy Bellinger’s yesterday, had a very informative chat with one of the engineers there…just now got to wait a few weeks now, until it’s fixed…
Here the bits are, ready to go…

the joys of motoring!

driving back from Sheffo last night, along the newly resurfaced A61, all of a sudden, the headlights went out! No dipped, no main beam, but when pulling the arm thingy towards me, as in used for flashing, the main beams worked.

I HATE VEHICLE ELECTRICS!!!

The Landie is now at Excell Automotive. They are superb problem solvers!
